Extremely good with Build up as you can operate through the Wings and the Center. The CAM acts as a link between the ST and the CMs making it much easier to build your attack. Defensively Compact and Resistant to Frequent Counters.
A balanced and deadly counter-attacking formation featuring a robust double CDM pivot, a central CAM orchestrator in the pocket, and dynamic wide wingers (LW & RW) supporting a central striker.
Almost the same as the 4411 formation but a little bit more defensive. 2 CDMs staying back often creates a buildup gap in the center. However, the formation is extremely good for wing play.
Good formation for Tiki Taka Gameplay. Wingers stay aggressive and ready to make runs most of the time. 3 CMs also make the formation defensively stable. However, the gap between the fullbacks and wingers can be exploited by the opponents.
The Classic formation which a lot of people like for its simplicity and direct nature. Very balanced build up play with good attacking movement.
Average Wing Control but the CAM in the center makes all the difference. Good defensive Formation.
Lack of Wing control but makes up for the center positioning of the players. Very good formation for fast paced Tiki Taka build up.
A Solid Formation to use this year as it offers you a lot of Midfield Control. The Lone Striker can get isolated at times but with the right buildup tactics this formation could help you win tough games.
Pretty good for building up attacks through Wings and Tiki Taka with Strikers. However, very easy to get Countered since you have only 1 CDM.
Similar to 41212 but lacks any sort of defensive stability leaving it very open to Wing Counters. A formation you should use when you are a goal down and not much time left on the clock.
Very Similar to 4-4-1-1 but lacks defense and passing options on wings due to the gap between wingers and fullbacks. Central CAM helps in build up and playmaking along with 2 CMs who help build pressure.
Extremely similar to the 4-5-1 but with a CDM that helps out Defensively. However, the formation may lack in offensive buildup at times due to the role of the CDM is to stay back and defend most of the time.
Similar to 4-3-3 but with a little bit more defensive stability because of the CDM. Really Strong Wing Play with the 2 CMs engaging in Build Up play makes life easier
An ironclad defensive 4-3-3 system utilizing a double defensive midfield pivot (LDM & RDM) protecting the backline, with a box-to-box CM linking transitions to an explosive front three (LW, RW, ST).
The Best Formation for Tiki Taka Style of Play as the compactness in the middle offers you more passing options. The LAM and the RAM offers a bit of width for wing play as well.
Defensive variation of the traditional 4-4-2. Employs a dual CDM pivot (LDM & RDM) behind flat wide midfielders, offering maximum central solidity while retaining twin striker counter-attack potency.
A Defensively Stable variant of the 4-4-2 where the CMs change to CDMs and they hold back for more defensive strength. However the LAM and RAMs often stay located centrally giving you less width on the formation.
Lacks the effectiveness of the CAM but if you need a defensive variant of 4-1-2-1-2 (Wide), this is what you are looking for. With the additional CDM backing you up defensively, this formation helps you close out games if you are leading by a goal.
3 Back formations are mainly focused more on attack. Gives you immense Attacking Options but the lack of fullbacks can get you exposed to instant Counter Attack.
Lacks Defensive Stability with only 3 Defenders. However, gives you Excellent Midfield control and Attacking Options for scoring Quick Goals. Presence of an Additional Winger gives a lot of width to the attack making to easier to spread out the Defenders of the opposite team.
The more Attacking Variant of the 4-4-2 formation. Instead of the Side Midfielders you get Wingers who contribute more to attack and less to defense making you vulnerable to Counter Attacks. Recommended only if you are a goal down and not much time left on the clock.
This Formation is like a Great Wall. Extremely to break down centrally. However, fullbacks often run out of stamina providing the required width for offense. Lack offensive width makes this formation a must have when you want to defend a lead till the end.
A more defensive variant of the 4-1-2-1-2 formation which offers you great Tiki Taka options through the center. However, if fullbacks push forward you become extremely vulnerable to Counter Attacks.
Ideal formation to have if you are struggling with defense. The Wingers add to the required offensive width and a 5 man back helps you hold down the fort defensively.
It is like a Defensive variant of the 4-5-1 where you have an extra CB to add more to Defensive Stability. There is no lack of width in the formation as the LM and RM cover the wing area of the pitch. Lack of a proper CAM hurts offensive build up.
Excellent Midfield Control with good defensive stability at the center of the pitch. However, lack of fullbacks often lead to counter attacks through the wings.
You can overload the box of your opponent with 2 CAMs and a Striker. However, the lack of fullbacks leave you open to Counter Attacks through the wings.
Not the most meta formation out there. However, could be used well with Short Passing. Offers a lot of width since the LAM and the RAM also tends to sway outwards. Sadly the formation lacks the Defensive Stability with only 1 CM operating at the center.
This is basically 4-4-2 on steroids but with less defensive control due to lack of fullbacks. Easily exposed to Counter Attacks.
